This wonderful old gospel song was performed on musical instruments and sung by Ransomed Bluegrass.

I Saw The Light song story

‘I Saw the Light’ was written by Hank Williams after he returned from a concert and was inspired by a remark his mother made while they were arriving in Montgomery, Alabama.

I wandered so aimless life filed with sin
I wouldn’t let my dear savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light

He recorded the song and released it in September 1948. Initially it was not a popular song, but became popular as the closing number for his live shows. Soon many other country singers would cover it and it would go on to become one of the most well-known gospel songs.

I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light

The song tells us that in this world we all are living an aimless and purpose-free life as long as we don’t allow Jesus to enter it, but the moment when we receive Jesus as our Savior, we start living in the light and get our purpose in life. Amen!
