On September 19th, 2012 , Nichelle Bowers’ little sister, Heather Bowers passed away after a 6-year battle with leukemia.
At Heather’s funeral, Nichelle sang the song with Danie, her sister-in-law, almost exactly 10 years ago.
The duo decided to perform it again in remembrance of her and to share the healing power that Christ can give us, especially as we go through our most difficult and tragic experiences.
I know that my Redeemer lives.
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead.
He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives to bless me with his love.
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed. He lives to bless in time of need.He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives: “I know that my Redeemer lives!” He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
“I know that my Redeemer lives!”
This song and its beautiful, hopeful lyrics are a representation of their testimony of this healing power offered to all, regardless of what the struggles may be in our lives.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26 (NKJV)
