Horse Obsessed With Man’s Bald Head Thinks He’s Her Dad

This beautiful female horse has grown fond of her owner’s bald head. She instantly licks it when she gets a chance. This act makes this pet-parent bond extra special.

“She kisses my head very often. I am a bald person. I don’t have hair,” Mert, her owner, said. Reyhan, a playful, brown horse, was adopted by this animal lover when she was just two and a half months old. This man lives in a village outside Istanbul, Turkey. He has a farmhouse and is taking care of a lot of animals.

Reyhan was born in a farmhouse near her owner’s place. Their original owner sold her mom to another city. But, she needed a mother to survive. Mert took matters into his hands and assumed responsibility for the baby. “I saw her, and I told them, ‘I want this baby.'” She was as small as a big dog when this kind man took her in. The people in their community were also animal lovers, and they helped Reyhan’s owner get milk from another horse mother.

And they say the rest is history. Reyhan grew up to be a strong, affectionate, and happy horse. “I have the impression that she thinks, she believes, I’m her real father. I’m her biological father,” Mert explained. She was very close to him. She licks his head whenever she wants to get something. They spend a lot of time together, and this pet parent even feeds her with his hands.

Sadly, this loving horse was visually challenged. One eye is blind, and the other can only partially function. She runs and plays with other animals in their farmhouse. Her best buddies are a big white horse and a donkey from neighboring farms.

This animal lover often rescues abandoned or stray animals. He had rescued dogs, ducks, etc. He saw the value of every animal and even considered each one of them as “persons.” He brought injured stray animals to the vet. He intended each one of them to find a permanent home. Unfortunately, no one wanted to adopt them, especially if they were “not nice-looking or young enough,” he said. So, they ended up staying with him and Reyhan.

He has almost 30 dogs under his care and can no longer adopt some. He has a lot in his hands already. He takes them out for regular trips to the forest to give them enough space to play and roam around. Reyhan also plays with them and at times, behaves like one of the pack already.

Mert likened Reyhan to shy kids. “They need to understand that you are theirs, and they are yours,” he explained. “We love each other. It’s pure love. We have kind of telepathy,” he described. Reyhan could pick up signals, and she knew what he wanted to do or where she needed to turn even though she could hardly see. “I will be with her forever until the end,” this pet parent ended with a heartwarming statement.

I just hope that all animals will be well taken care of by responsible people like Mert. We may not be able to take care of them in the same capacity, but extending love to them in the smallest way can make a big difference.

Verse of the Day

“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”

Luke 2:16-20
