Homeless Hero Saves Woman Who Jumped From Bridge

A homeless man risked his own life to save a stranger woman who jumped from Minneapolis bridge.

Shane Drossard had been camping out under the bridge when he heard a loud splash at 2 AM. As he tried to figure it out, he heard a woman’s voice coming from the river.

It was a 35-year-old woman who attempted suicide by jumping off the bridge. The homeless man immediately jumped into the river to save her life. But it was not an easy task in the fast-moving current.

Drossard grabbed the woman’s hand and tried to escape from the current by anchoring his other hand against a wall. As he waited for help to arrive, he told her that she was beautiful; she had so much to live for; he was there for her; and he was not going to let go of her.

Finally, An emergency crew arrived at the scene and pulled them both out of the water. The woman was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

When the firefighters offered the homeless hero a shelter for the night, he humbly rejected their offer and went back to his camp under the bridge.

In an interview with WCCO, Drossard was asked why did he saved her life. The homeless man emotionally responded by saying: “I just wanted to do something good for somebody.”
