Johnny Walker was thought to be dead already by his family. They went to different hospitals and morgues looking for him after being told that he might have died due to stabbing, Monica Collins, his sister, told Fox26 Houston.

But they had their hopes up when they learned that Johnny was hailed as a hero in a car accident after they had seen him on TV a few days back.

“As soon as we saw his face, we just drove out here just drove the whole area looking for him,” Monica said. “We came to this corner, and there my brother is.”

This homeless hero did not think twice and jumped in to rescue an injured Harris County Sheriff’s deputy. The deputy responded to a robbery call at a CVS in Houston. Unfortunately, he got involved in an accident at the intersection.

Johnny only wanted to “Get him out of the car before it explodes,” he told Fox26 News. “So we took him to the store, and I was checking his neck and put my hand over his mouth and nose closely to see if he was breathing, and he did.”

Seven cars were involved in the crash, a woman died at the scene, and two kids were taken to the hospital. But, Johnny was sad for he was not able to save the woman who died.

“When we got to him, he was just really upset that he couldn’t help the lady,” Monica told KHOU-TV.

Johnny is now reunited with his family. This 53-year-old hero has been homeless since 2006. He had lost contact with his family for almost three months.

This is indeed a great way to start 2022 for Johnny and his family! He helped and risked his life for someone who needed him, but now, it’s his turn to have his life back.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
