Holly Willoughby, a popular British TV presenter, left viewers in stitches when she revealed why she can’t grow corn in her garden.
Ever had one of those moments when you realize you’ve been doing something completely wrong your whole life? That’s exactly what happened to Holly, and her genuine confusion reminds us we’re all learning as we go.
Holly was chatting enthusiastically with her co-host Phil about her garden adventures. “I’ve got some good-looking corn on the cob… I mean, the green sprouts coming out the top… I don’t know what’s happening underneath. That’s the problem, I go to dig them up, and there’s nothing under there,” she explained, completely unaware of her mistake.
Phil’s face twisted with confusion at Holly’s statement. Viewers who know about farming immediately spotted her mistake.
“Corn on the cob grows off the plant though, not underneath… it’s not on the root,” Phil pointed out, visibly trying to process what he was hearing.
The real comedy gold came next. Holly’s eyes widened with genuine surprise as she exclaimed, “Does it?! Well, I’m looking in the wrong place! I thought it was like a carrot!”
Both hosts dissolved into fits of laughter. Phil managed to add between chuckles, “No wonder you’re having trouble with your veggie garden,” which only made them laugh harder.
