In today’s world, kids are totally consumed with smartphones and devices and have no time to read books.
Books are educator-approved, and parents also agree that books are their kids’ best friends.
But if the kids are too small to read by themselves, then reading aloud to them is a bridge to connect an adult with the child.
A trending video shows the joy of reading, but here it’s not the kid getting the most enjoyment—it is the reader.
The video opens with a grandmother and her grandchild, who is bobbing about her and is really not into the reading or hearing anything at all. But the grandmother powers ahead, intent on making the kid start reading young.
She is reading the book “The Wonky Donkey,” written by Craig Smith and illustrated by Katz Cowley, and it will leave you in stitches from the word go.
“Children will be in fits of laughter with this perfect read-aloud tale of an endearing donkey,” the page states. “By the book’s final page, readers end up with a spunky, hanky-panky, cranky, stinky, dinky, lanky, honky-tonky, winky wonky donkey!”
Grandma loses it time and again, but steels herself to make it all the way to the last page. “Oh, this is going to kill me!” she howls at one point.
“Ah! I have to finish this!” she says at another, sniffling and trying to clear her throat.
This is such a hilarious video, and viewers have loved the grandma’s sense of humor. The video has worked as a powerful advertisement for the book, which, although out of print, may make a comeback soon.
