Grandads can give their grandkids the toys they love, candies they crave, and give them the love they need and so much more. This grandpa failed to remember his grandchild’s name but has never forgotten to appreciate the beautiful music she made.
Sheela Awe has a knack for playing the piano. Her talent in creating beautiful music is exceptional. One does not need to be an expert to tell that her piano playing skills are above average.
This musician has wowed almost 50k followers on Instagram when she posted a short video when she was playing an unnamed song. But it’s not just her talent that won the hearts of many. There’s a touching story behind her music.
Her 93-year-old grandpa has Alzheimer’s disease. People who are afflicted with this usually forget what they just recently did or said, and it gets worse over time. Sheela’s granddad is no longer familiar with his family. He asks for her name every ten minutes and barely recalls how he became related to her. But, music brought them together.
It was a typical day and she was playing a classical song on the piano. It was a musical piece not intended for beginners. It’s beautifully complex. Judging from the way this woman plays the piano, it seemed that she has been an expert on this for many years now.
This old man was intrigued by the song he’s hearing and he peeked inside the room. He saw his granddaughter playing the piano. He got inside and inch a bit closer. After a while, he approved and gave her a thumbs-up sign. This delighted her and a grin could be seen on her face. It seemed that this was not yet enough, he sat and continued to listen to her. It’s as if he’s seated on the front row of a concert. But he was off to dreamland after just a few seconds. He dozed off while listening to Sheela’s lullaby.
This was a truly memorable and sweet moment for them. Alzheimer’s disease could have taken his memory away, that’s why he asks for her grandchild’s name every ten minutes, but he could not forget her beautiful music. This grandpa never failed to appreciate and love his granddaughter in a way he knew best. “This is us, sharing a moment of happiness, where memory doesn’t have to play a part in the experience,” she posted on her Instagram account. The mind can fail to remember but in his heart, he will always be proud of his Sheela.
