Glowing eyes on baby monitor might seem typical, but for one Utah mom, it signaled a serious concern. Her attention and quick action led to the diagnosis of a rare eye cancer in her 6-month-old son.
Parents have a unique ability to notice even the smallest changes in their children, and this was particularly true for Benny’s mother. The unusual glow in Benny’s right eye, as seen through the baby monitor, was distinctly different from his other eye. Worried, she took him to a pediatrician, who then referred them to an ophthalmologist. The diagnosis was retinoblastoma, a rare but serious cancer of the retina.
After over a year of treatment, Benny is now on a hopeful path to recovery.
