‘Give Thanks,’ written by Henry Smith in 1978, encourages us to be grateful for our blessings. The lyrics remind us to “give thanks with a grateful heart” and recognize God’s grace.

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Jon Michael Ogletree, the pianist behind this performance, brings a wealth of experience and faith to his music.

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Jon-Michael is an accountant, pianist, YouTuber, blogger, motivational speaker, church pianist, adjunct professor, and founder of a foundation for people with dwarfism.

Standing only 3’8″ tall, Jon-Michael’s life is a testament to overcoming obstacles and trusting in God’s plan.

Jon-Michael started playing the piano at three years old, even before he learned to walk. His brother placed him on the piano bench after finding him in the piano room, and Jon-Michael began playing chords.

By his fourth birthday, he was taking lessons at Samford University, where he later earned degrees in accounting. He returned to Samford as an adjunct professor, teaching Personal Finance.

Jon-Michael’s music career has taken him across the country. His work is enjoyed by listeners in over 150 countries each month through platforms like iTunes, Amazon, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Jon-Michael’s performance reminds us to be thankful to God. We often forget to pause and give thanks for our daily blessings. “Give thanks with a grateful heart,” the song urges.

Jon-Michael’s rendition invites us to reflect on our lives, recognize our blessings, and express gratitude to God.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
