GENTRI Covers Irish Anthem ‘Danny Boy’

Popular Christian vocal group GENTRI sings a beautiful rendition of Irish anthem, “Danny Boy.” The band say they were led to cover the song while on a recent tour through Europe, where they had a chance to visit Ireland and film the music video with the backdrop of the stunning Irish countryside.

Danny-Boy-GENTRI

“Danny Boy” is one of the most popular and recognizable Irish songs of all time. “Danny Boy” is a ballad written by British songwriter, Frederic Weatherly, set to a traditional Irish melody.

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer’s gone, and all the roses falling
‘Tis you, ’tis you must go and I must bide

But come ye back when summer’s in the meadow
Or when the valley’s hushed and white with snow
‘Tis I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so

GENTRI, or “The Gentlemen Trio” started in June 2014 and is comprised of prolific singers Brad Robins, Casey Elliott and Bradley Quinn Lever. They have blown us away with their beautiful take on “Danny Boy” today.

“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
