A bride and groom faced a funny wedding mishap when they discovered their wedding rings were missing moments before their ceremony started at a Rhode Island church.
Even with months of careful planning, we might forget something important on the big day.
In this story, a bride and groom faced every couple’s wedding day fear when they realized they had forgotten their wedding rings right before the ceremony.
The young couple sat in church that September day, ready to exchange their vows. Luke, a dentist, and Ryan, who works in biotech, had planned their wedding for months.
But God had a different plan to make their day special. As they waited for the ceremony to begin, Luke noticed something was wrong. “Why aren’t there rings on there? Where are the rings? Shouldn’t they be on that dish?” he asked Ryan.
Their wedding video captured this moment, which later spread across social media with 10 million views on Instagram.
Luke remembers his thoughts clearly: “I had no idea where they were. I knew they were supposed to be there, and they weren’t there. Then I realized I hadn’t seen them since that morning.”
Ryan showed amazing grace under pressure. She turned to her bridesmaids and whispered, “We forgot our rings.” Even her engagement ring was missing.
But instead of panic, she chose trust. “After my initial shock, I was giggling and thinking, ‘This is going to be such a funny story someday,'” she said.
The Lord works in wonderful ways through our families. When Luke caught his mother’s eye and signaled about the rings, she knew exactly what to do. She told Ryan’s mother, who alerted their photographer.
The second photographer ran to the bridal suite where the rings waited after their morning photo session.
Within minutes, the rings returned to their proper place. The photographer, now an unexpected ring bearer, brought them down the aisle.
Both Ryan and Luke praise their mothers’ support throughout their wedding journey. “I feel like my mom was my right hand woman, and same with Luke’s mom. We’re very lucky, and they have a great relationship,” Ryan shared.
The story took a funny turn during the best man’s speech. Will Devaney, Luke’s brother, joked, “If you’d got me a better gift, maybe I’d remember to bring the rings up to the altar.” Luke later explained his brother wasn’t at fault, though he still teases him about it.
Looking back, Luke sees God’s hand in their special day. “I’m not happy that we forgot the rings, but it all worked out in the end. It’s a great story,” he said. “I can’t wait to tell our kids one day. It just makes the day a little bit more memorable.”
