‘Take the world, but give me Jesus’ is a classic hymn written by Fanny J. Crosby. She was born in Putnam, New York, and at the age of just 6 weeks she became blind due to a doctor’s accident. She has blessed the body of Christ with more than 8,000 hymns and is known as one of the best hymn writers of all time.

“Take the world but give me Jesus” is a phrase that keeps appearing at the beginning of every verse, which reminds us that for Christians, this world is not our permanent abode. All these worldly things cannot compare to what our Jesus gives us. As Paul says in Philippians 3:8 “More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ”.

Take the world, but give me Jesus,
All its joys are but a name;
But His love abideth ever,
Through eternal years the same

Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Sweetest comfort of my soul;
With my Savior watching over me,
I can sing though billows roll

Today Fountainview Academy recreates this ageless hymn and touches our hearts with their rendition of this classic.
