Samoan Forest Firefighters Sing Beautiful Hymn As They March Down The Mountain

After days of intense efforts to combat the wildfires, a group of Samoan firefighters are returning down the mountain, filling the air with song.

While many initially recognized the tune as “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” it is actually a traditional Samoan hymn titled ‘Fa’afetai I le Atua,’ meaning ‘thanks unto God.’

These firefighters from American Samoa play a crucial role in wildfire management. As a specialized hand crew, they use manual tools to clear vegetation and create barriers to control the fire’s spread.

Their work is critical in protecting natural resources and preventing further damage. Captured on video, their march through California’s Shasta-Trinity Forest while singing in beautiful a cappella is truly inspiring.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
