Having continuous fellowship with God is very important for us as believers in Christ Jesus, for without intimacy in fellowship we can not serve God effectively. Through fellowship, God reveals His mind to us, strengthens us and we receive the ability to do things He has destined for our lives.
When we are in constant fellowship with God, His Spirit abides in us and we will be fruitful in everything that we lay our hands upon. This is the will of God for us right from the beginning because He has made us in His own image and likeness to have fellowship with us.
when we remain in fellowship with God there will be no spiritual dryness in our lives, as we will always be refreshed in the presence of God. In His presence, there is deliverance, liberty, and pleasure forevermore. Psalm 16:11.
Here are three things a Christian believer must do in order to stay continuously in God’s presence:
1. Live A Holy life
Holiness is needed for us to have fellowship with God. 1 Peter 1:16 Since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” We must keep this in mind as we get into fellowship with God, for our God is the God of holiness and we must come before Him with a holy heart in order to have fellowship with Him.
Adam and Eve had fellowship with God as they lived in holiness, God always visited them and had fellowship with them. But when they disobeyed God, they lost the fellowship and presence of God because they sinned against Him.
The Bible says Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. If we want to have intimate fellowship with God, we must strive to live a holy life and be in peace with everyone, This will bring us into deep fellowship with God.
2. Walk in the Light
Walking in the light of God will lead us into intimate fellowship with God. Our God is the God of light and there is no darkness in Him. When we walk in the light, God’s presence will dwell in us and we will have fellowship with Him.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Our fellowship with God will remove every darkness in our lives and help us to fellowship with God without any hindrance. The word of God brings us into the light of God so that we can have this unexplainable relationship and fellowship with our God. Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
1 John 1:5-9 This is the message we have heard from him and declares to you: God is light; in Him, there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
3. Worship invites God’s presence into our lives
Worshiping God is an act of fellowship with Him, This is because worship brings us the presence of God, and when His presence is with us, we can have fellowship with Him.
Acts 16:25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. That’s why we have to worship God in good times and the bad — we need His touch in every circumstance and worship invites God’s presence and enables us to experience God.
