6 Steps To Building An Everlasting Christian Marriage

Marriage is an institution founded by God Himself. He said, it is not good that man should be alone, so He made a companion for him.

Marriage is beautiful when husband and wife make Christ the rock and foundation of their marriage.

However, it can become really ugly and broken when Christ is not there in it. John 16:33 “ I have told you these things that in me you may have peace, in the world you will have troubles.

Here are some steps of building a Christian marriage that will last.

1) Marriage begins with God and ends with Him

You have to commit yourself to God and allow Him to guide you to the person He has chosen for you as your partner. If you are still searching, then immediately commit every step of your way to God.

Proverbs 3:5 says “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your part.”

2) Pray together

There is nothing more important you can do to help your marriage than pray with your spouse. Keep every small and big matter in prayer, because the Bible says ‘pray without season”.

3) Ask God’s will for your marriage

Study the scriptures every day personally and along with your spouse to know the plans of God for your marriage.

Jeremiah 29:11 said “For I know the thought that I think towards you, thoughts of peace and not of evil. That is the reason why you must give it up for Him alone.

4) Don’t speak negative words

Always be careful what you speak about your marriage and your partner. Your words should be consistent with the word of God regarding your marriage.

The Bible said in Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life (are} in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

5) Wives to Submit to their husband and husband to love their wife

This is a vital word from the word of God regarding the husband and wife relationship.

Ephesians 5:21-33 “Submitting to one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.”

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”

6) Always be faithful to your partner

You must stay faithful to your spouse even in the midst of many challenges and temptations.

If you stumble in this area then the marriage will be on shaky ground as your spouse may not be able to trust you again.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
