7-Year-Old Girl Sells Lemonade to Buy a Tombstone for Her Mom

A 7-year-old girl from Scottsboro, Alabama, named Emouree Johnson, set up a lemonade stand with a very special goal. She wasn’t just trying to make some extra pocket money; she was raising funds to buy a tombstone for her mother, Karli, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 29.

Emouree’s stand quickly caught the attention of the community. “I didn’t know just making a little lemonade would bring this many people to my house,” she said. Surprisingly, her efforts raised $10,000 in a short time.

The community’s response was overwhelming. People didn’t just stop by for lemonade; they donated generously. Even though the lemonade cost only $1, many gave much more, with some even offering $100 bills.

Jennifer Bordner, Emouree’s grandmother, has been moved by the kindness shown by neighbors and strangers alike. She expressed how this support is not just about buying lemonade but helping Emouree heal from the loss of her mother.

“It’s helping her heal, I know her momma is looking down on her and is so happy,” Bordner explained. The family felt the warmth and support of their community deeply. “I’ve just been amazed and have cried happy tears, felt a peaceful and happiness because everybody came to support my little granddaughter,” Bordner added.

Bordner expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported them during their toughest time. “Thank you to everyone and thank God because this was one of the most painful things I ever experienced, and this community has helped me.”

In Emouree’s story, we see God’s love through the kindness of a community. It reminds us that in our darkest hours, God provides comfort and support through those around us.
