Dying Man’s Last Wish To Eat His Favourite Pizza Fulfilled By Teen 225 Miles Away

A dying man’s wish to eat pizza, from his favourite pizza store 225 miles away from him, was fulfilled by a kindhearted delivery boy.

Rich Morgan and his wife love Steve’s Pizza in Battle Creek, and wanted to make the trip from Indianapolis, knowing well that they may never be able to enjoy their favourite slice again, as Rich’s cancer was highly advanced, and he had to be kept in hospice care.

Unknown to them, Julie’s dad called Steve’s Pizza, and the call was answered by 18-year-old Dalton Shaffer, a pizza delivery worker.

“He said that his family was thinking about coming up and grabbing pizza,” said Dalton “But due to the circumstances they weren’t able to do that.”

Julie’s father was hoping for a card as Steve’s Pizza does not deliver, and never for a three-and-a-half-hour drive.

But Dalton was thinking differently, he cooked a mushroom and pepperoni pie, loaded it in his car, and drove through the night to deliver the pizza in person.

“The family came out, gave me a hug,” Shaffer said. “It was cool. The expressions on their face and everything like that.”

Rich and Julie enjoyed their meal and shared their story on Facebook, thanking Dalton for delivering ‘the best pizza in the world.’

Dalton replied saying “Anybody that is watching this, keep them in mind and pray for them,” he said. “I hope the best for them and I hope the Lord gives them comfort.”

Along with a heart of gold, Dalton is also a good worker, because even after arriving in Indy at 2:30 a.m and the family offering to put him up for the night, he refused, saying he had to get back in time for his next shift the same day!
