A homeless mother dog in Istanbul carried her dying puppy to a veterinary clinic in an incredible story of motherly love.
When we look at how a mother loves and protects her children, we see one of the most beautiful gifts from our Creator. This story from Istanbul touches our hearts and shows us that even animals display the amazing instincts God gave them.
On January 13, security cameras at a veterinary clinic in the Adnan Kahveci neighborhood captured something remarkable. A stray mother dog walked through the rain carrying her weak puppy in her mouth.
She went straight to the clinic door and placed her baby there, hoping someone would help. A veterinary technician saw this and brought the dying puppy inside right away.
The clinic’s veterinarian, Dr. Baturalp Oghan, later told the story of this mother dog. She had given birth near the clinic, but sadly most of her puppies did not survive.
What made this story more special was that kind people had already brought another surviving puppy from her litter to the same clinic earlier. The mother dog had no way of knowing this when she brought her sick puppy for help.
The puppy was very sick with a slow heartbeat from being in the cold. The medical team rushed to give the tiny patient emergency care. All this time, the mother dog stayed close, watching with worry as the doctors worked to save her baby.
The mother’s brave act not only saved her dying puppy but also brought her family back together. The clinic staff realized this puppy had a sibling already in their care. Now the whole family could heal together.
The mother dog needed help too. Dr. Oghan said she wasn’t making enough milk for her puppies, so the clinic gave them extra food. “The puppies are doing better now,” he said. “We need to keep treating them a bit longer, and right now we can’t let visitors see them because we need to protect their health.”
The whole clinic staff felt touched by this mother dog’s love and wisdom. Dr. Oghan shared, “Her story has made many people care about her. She shows us how much a mother loves her babies.”
The clinic wants to find a good home where this family can live together once they get better.
The Lord works through all His creation to show us what real love looks like. This mother dog teaches us about never giving up, even when things seem hopeless. She did not let the rain, the cold, or being homeless stop her from finding help for her baby.
