Daughter Of Worship Leader Moves Judges To Tears With Original Song On American Idol

Performing on American idol was the opportunity of a lifetime for 18-year-old DJ Johnson, the daughter of a worship leader, who moved the judges to tears with a performance of an original song “Scars.”

DJ Johnson is the sixth born of a family of ten who shared her life story with the judges and audiences across the nation about how her mother left them just last year.

She performed her original song “Scars” which she wrote to express the pain she has been through since her mother left their family.

Music has always been DJ’s passion in life and she was visibly upset when she spoke about how her mother had belittled her over it in her life.

DJ sang and played the piano in the American Idol studio but her emotions overtook her and she stopped in the middle of the song. The judges were overwhelmed and comforted her; Lionel gave her a handkerchief and had her dad hug her before she continued her audition.

When Luke asked her if she wanted to sing another song, Katy Perry said that DJ Johnson had to complete the song and so she composed herself and continued singing “Scars.”

Katy Perry could be seen crying as Dj Johnson sang and the judges appreciated her saying, “Some of the greatest artists become artists because they have had the most pain in their life,” Katy said to DJ while wiping her own tears. “It’s about if you can take that pain and turn it into a purpose. Keep being brave.”

The young woman got a “yes” from all three judges and has now advanced to the next round of the competition.

Verse of the Day

“The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”
