Renowned entertainment figure Dick Van Dyke, at 98, continues to live life with energy and enthusiasm. His inspiring journey demonstrates that our age doesn’t define us; rather, it’s our approach to life that’s crucial.
Dick Van Dyke, now in his late 90s, views aging uniquely. In a recent video on YouTube, the “Mary Poppins” star expressed his happiness in leading an active life, especially his love for work. He mentioned, “It’s such a blessing to find a way of making a living that you love, that you’d do for nothing… I look forward to going to work every morning.”
He tackles aging by making new friends and staying active. He goes to the gym three times a week and sings with his group, The Vantastix. His approach? “Getting your living done first…And have the nerve to try something. Failure’s OK.”
Reflecting on his career, Van Dyke talked about his choice of family-friendly roles that led to classics like ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.’ These movies continue to delight children today, evident from the increasing fan mail he receives, even more now than at their initial release.
Van Dyke shared a fun fact: he was once considered for James Bond. He humorously said, “I could have been James Bond,” remembering the offer he got after Sean Connery. He joked about his British accent possibly being a problem.
Dick Van Dyke’s life and career exemplify the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and enjoying every day.
