‘I Could Have Lost My Life’: Football Legend Deion Sanders Cries Out To God During Terrifying Health Ordeal

Football legend Deion Sanders is thanking Jesus for healing him and rescuing his life from a serious health crisis. Today he’s sharing his powerful testimony of faith.

Deion Sanders testimony

In an interview with Chris Neely of “Thee Pregame Show,” he shared how his faith in God helped him during the deadly health struggle that caused the amputation of two toes.

Sanders is the head coach at Jackson State University, he says, he is “thankful” to have gone through the difficulties he faced as it revealed the heart of God to him.

It all started in 2021, when Sanders, 55, was diagnosed with blood clots in his legs after surgery and had to have two toes on his left leg amputated.

After spending weeks in the hospital and undergoing eight surgeries, he is counting his blessings. “It was a blessing, because I could have lost my life very easily. … It was there. It was a thought process of losing my leg from the knee down,” Sanders said.

Sanders said, “It was almost there. So when I look up and say ‘Thank you, Jesus,’ it’s because I know the quiet cries at night that were in that hospital.”

The ace football player sought the face of God in prayer at the hospital. “I got to really see God’s face and the different personalities of God, I feel,” he said.

During his stay in the hospital, he prayed and spoke in tongues, and kept praising the Lord. “I’m pretty sure that some of those nurses thought I was crazy,” Sanders said, adding, “he called on the Lord all night.”

Sanders says, he has struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts in the past and that Jesus helped save his life even as he tried to take his own life.

“I gave my life to the Lord in a condo all alone in Cincinnati, Ohio, while I was playing baseball,” Sanders said a few years ago during an appearance on “I Am Athlete.” “I went through a roller coaster of emotions. I was at the bottom of, to me, what life was.”

We thank God for the life of Sanders and his public testimony of God’s healing and restoration in his life.
