Dr. Landon D. Vinson, an emergency room doctor at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Kansas, experienced what he describes as a miracle.
During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in spring 2021, a woman was brought into the emergency room in a critical state. Despite an hour of CPR, she showed no signs of life and was considered brain dead. Her heart was only beating due to adrenaline shots and a ventilator.
As the team had no hope for her recovery, Dr. Vinson spoke with her husband about discontinuing life support. However, her husband requested that they wait for a pastor to arrive.
The medical staff agreed to wait for the pastor, more as a gesture of respect than with any expectation of change.
Rev. Randy DePriest, a local pastor, arrived and began praying over the woman. Dr. Vinson recalls, “Maybe just a couple minutes into the prayer, a machine began sounding an alarm. I thought I would just turn it off so it would not be distracting. When I looked up, spontaneous breath began coming back. I saw a hand moving on this woman.”
As the pastor continued praying, the woman began to respond. She nodded her head and opened her eyes in response to his questions. Dr. Vinson was astounded, saying, “This made no sense to me because she did not have any sign of life.”
The woman’s recovery continued, and Dr. Vinson described it as the first true miracle he had ever seen. He later told CBN News, “I see no other explanation than a miracle for this phenomenon. I am not claiming that a pastor raised a woman from the dead. I am saying his steadfast faith and prayer triggered or released something spiritual that transcended realms. I don’t know that I’ll ever understand the mechanism, but I know she was dead before the prayer, and alive after.”
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
