Praying During The COVID-19 Pandemic

prayer-for-coronavirus

2020 is proving to be a year of pestilences, starting with the Australian bush fires, then the deadly locust invasion and now the Coronavirus pandemic rattling people everywhere.

President Donald Trump recently declared Sunday as National Day of Prayer, but people all around the country and the world have continued praying as we learn more about the novel Coronavirus and its impacts in our nation and the world.

The time to pray is now and we need to get down on our knees and ask God for help and protection from the deadly Coronavirus outbreak.

1. Prayer of protection for family and loved ones from Coronavirus

Make a hedge of protection around your family with this prayer.

“Heavenly Father, we ask You to protect us and hide us from this deadly pestilence of COVID-19. Your word in Psalm 91 promises us that You will protect us from the deadly pestilence and that even though thousands fall because due to it, the virus will not come near me and my family. We trust in Your name only and in the blood of the Lord Jesus that covers us and our possessions. In Jesus name we ask You, Amen.”

Bible verse to memorize and recite daily- 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

2. Prayer of healing for the ones affected with the Coronavirus

“Dear Father we pray for healing all those people who have been infected by the Coronavirus. We also pray for their family members who fearful and are at risk of becoming severely ill due to it. We remember especially the elderly and people with chronic health conditions. We ask you to protect them from this deadly virus and comfort them in this time of uncertainty in the world. May the Holy Spirit guide and comfort them today. In Jesus name, Amen.”

Bible verse to remind us of God’s healing from Coronavirus.

Jeremiah 30:17, “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD”

3. Prayer for Doctors, health experts, medical personnel and caretakers

Father, we pray for wisdom on the health experts, doctors, nurses, medical staff and caretakers all around the world. As they take decisions which will affect lives and futures of our families, communities, countries, and the world. Help them to correctly diagnose the virus, and help bring about vaccines to prevent it. May they have the word of God in their hearts and may they turn to You when their knowledge fails. You help them Father, and comfort them when they are tired and weary. In Jesus name, Amen

Bible verse to recite

Isaiah 33:2, “LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.”

4. Pray for our country leaders

Father God, we pray for the nation’s leaders to take wise decisions for the country during this time of COVID-19. We have done wrong against You by worshipping celebrities, spending more time on the internet and running after riches. But now Oh Lord, help us and our country’s leaders to humble ourselves and seek your face, and Your word promises us that You will hear us from heaven, and forgive our sins and heal our land. Help our leaders to bring the hearts of the people back to You and lead us in the correct direction during these terrible times our country is facing. In Jesus name we ask. Amen.

5. Pray for the Gospel to spread

Dear Lord, we know that You are all knowing and all powerful, what is intended for evil, you can turn for good. We pray that through this illness, we will get a chance to tell someone about You. So that they can get a heavenly and eternal perspective as we the body of Christ help meet the needs of the less fortunate and the suffering during this pandemic. May the pastors and evangelists speak life into people’s lives and give them hope in troubled times. In Jesus name we ask You. Amen.

Bible verse for the spreading of the Gospel

Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Fear is our enemy number one, and it is the primary weapon of the powers of darkness. Along with worry and anxiety the devil tries to cripple us with fear of what is going on in the world today. Let us pray and repent and ask the Lord to heal our land and our bodies in Jesus name. Amen.

Verse of the Day

“[Thanksgiving] I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—”
