ElENYI sings a beautiful cover of “Consider The Lilies,” with Emily Brown on the harp. The song was composed by Roger Hoffman who is a famous American composer and singer. This is his most popular work which featured on a Mormon Tabernacle Choir CD called ‘Consider the Lilies.’
We read in the fifth and sixth chapters of Matthew in the Bible, where Jesus talks about the lilies of the valley, He said, “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin.”
This passage is the backstory of ‘Consider the Lilies’ by Roger Hoffman. In the 80’s, Hoffman was playing the piano at church when he was flowing with a new song idea and played a melody a few times without thinking about it. He immediately began to write the words down and says he felt a great urge to complete the song which has had a profound impact on the church and Christian music in general.
Consider the lilies; they don’t toil or spin,
And there’s not a king with more splendor than them.
Consider the sparrows; they don’t plant nor sow,
But they’re fed by the Master who watches them grow.We have a Heavenly Father above
With eyes full of mercy and a heart full of love.
He really cares when your head is bowed low;
Consider the lilies, then you will know.
This cover by the ElENYI sisters is just the perfect way to start our morning as we are reminded that our source and provision for today, is not from here but from the heavens above.Amen!
