A local Illinois contractor discovered a decades old Christmas gift with his name on it hidden behind a wall while renovating his childhood home.
When we stumble upon old toys from our childhood, memories flood back in an instant. But imagine finding an unopened Christmas gift from decades ago, tucked away like buried treasure.
That’s exactly what happened to Tim King, who found a Christmas gift with his name on it waiting patiently behind a wall for 46 years.
Tim King, who owns TKING Construction Services, was helping his parents update their bathroom when he found something special. Before closing up the new drywall, King looked behind the wall where they had removed a medicine cabinet.
“I should probably look and see that there is nothing back there,” King said. His careful check paid off when he spotted a wrapped present covered in old Disney paper.
The house where King found the gift holds special meaning for his family. His great grandparents built it as a summer home to escape the busy life in Chicago.
Over the years, the house grew along with the family. His grandparents added one section, and later his parents bought the house and built another addition.
When King pulled out the dusty package, he noticed something that made his heart skip a beat. The gift had his name written on it. “When I pulled that out, it was super old wrapping paper, and then I was like, ‘Oh.., that has my name on it,'” King shared.
King waited to open it until his mother could watch, though she could not remember buying the present.
Inside the worn wrapping paper, King found a set of Matchbox Thunder Jets, a popular toy from the 1970s. He opened the gift while playing the song ‘Danger Zone’ in the background.
“I would have been six, so that is pretty awesome,” King said. He believes his parents bought the gift for Christmas in 1978, and it must have fallen between the walls when they hid presents in the attic.
King shared his amazing find on Instagram through his company page (@tking_cs). The video of his discovery has touched many hearts, getting almost 37,000 likes.
The story even brought some lighthearted family teasing. King laughed as he explained, “I have one sister, and my mom has always been very picky about getting us the exact same amount of gifts.”
Sometimes our answers to prayers seem hidden behind walls, just like Tim’s Christmas gift. But God reveals them at the perfect time, in ways we never expect.
Let’s keep our faith strong and remember that no prayer is forgotten by our Father, even if the answer takes longer than we expect.
