Korean Soul, the gospel singing group from Seoul sings a joyous and lively karaoke cover of ‘We’ll Understand It Better By & By’
By and by, when the morning comes
All the saints of God are gathered home
We will tell the story how we’ve overcome
And we’ll understand it better by and byTrials dark on every hand
And we may not understand
All the ways the God would lead us
To that blessed promised land
But he’ll guide us with his eyes
And we’ll follow ’til we die
And we’ll understand it better by and by
‘By and by, when the morning comes,’ echoes Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning”
The song was written by Charles Albert Tindley in 1905, who was one of the eminent preachers of Methodism at the turn of the twentieth century.
‘We’ll Understand It Better By and By’ was one of eight hymns, written during a difficult period in Tindley’s life. The song is a reflection of the various aspects of Tindley’s ministry which aimed to lift the spirits of urban African Americans of his time through his preaching.
Tindley’s theology with reference to the song is that of hope that exemplifies I Corinthians 13:12: “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known ” (KJV).
