Weddings have always been one of the most important days in a woman’s life. But for this wedding, it was not only unforgettable for the bride, but it was also special for this young boy.
Vanessa and Craig Lynch met when they were sophomores at Augsburg College. Several years after, they did not expect to end up on the altar exchanging, “I do’s.”
It was not a typical set-up for the couple, Craig has a son, and his bride willingly accepted her new role as a stepmom for the 9-year-old Henry.
“Henry is such a big part of Craig’s life, and I felt that it was necessary to have him be a big part of the ceremony somehow,” Vanessa told Fox News Digital. “I had written the vows previously, but I wasn’t 100% about doing them in front of everyone because I didn’t want Henry to feel uncomfortable,” she added.
For sure, there were no dry eyes during their wedding. The bride was emotional while declaring her vow. With a shaky voice, she said, “Henry, I know I wasn’t there the day you came into the world,” she momentarily paused. “I wasn’t there for your first steps or your first words, but I promise I will be there for many more of your firsts.”
The father and son were also emotional, and the young boy could not help but cry while listening to his stepmom. She added, “I promise to love you as if you were my own, and lastly, I promise I will be the best wife for your dad, and I promise to be the best stepmom I can be for you.”
Then, Henry gave her a hug. His dad obviously, could not also contain his emotions. He was trying to hold back his tears but to no avail. He ended up wiping them instead.
Vanessa explained, “Henry said me doing that for him made our relationship feel even stronger than before.”
She also said that she was not usually emotional but felt the need to say those words after declaring her vow to her groom. “I’m not typically an outwardly emotional person, but when I started saying the vows to Henry, I got choked up because I could see how much it meant to Henry to hear those things. He totally wasn’t expecting it.”
The moving snippet of their wedding was captured on video and was shared with South West News Service (SWNS). Viewers were also touched by the beautiful moment.
Craig introduced Vanessa to Henry a few months ago, and they went to a monster truck show. For sure, Christmas and New Year were splendid as they celebrated their first holiday season as ‘Lynch family’.
Certainly, it was love that made this union stirring and meaningful. It is their unconditional love for one another that will make them eagerly look forward to a lot of firsts in the many, many years to come.
