A Powerful Testimony Of A Woman Who Was Sold By Her Own Mother

“Duck Dynasty” was a hit with many people watching the show, but even though it’s not on air anymore, the Robertson family continues to share the word of God and help others find joy in the Lord.

Missy Robertson, Jase Robertson’s wife, has launched “Laminin” a jewelry line to help all those women “in need of a new purpose”, especially the ones who have overcome addiction, sex trafficking or homelessness.

Brandy from Laminin shared about her journey from an abusive childhood to prison to freedom in Christ during a recent interview with Missy which was part of PureFlix’s digital series “Restored with Missy Robertson.”

Her story goes like this. When Brandy was only 2 years old, her mother left her and her brother on the doorstep of a “dope man” as a ransom for unpaid drugs.

“She never came back,” Brandy said. The dealer took the two children to CPS, and then Brandy’s grandfather took custody of them.

She had a somewhat normal childhood for the next eight years, not knowing anything about their past.

But her mother returned when Brandy was around 10, and told them everything about their background, which led Brandy to search for her real mother. They moved back with their mother and she recalled saying, “We were there for about three days and I was smoking pot,” she said.

All hell broke loose, as brandy says, “And then about two weeks after that, after we were given custody back to my mom, they were tying my hands and feet to the bed and shooting dope into my arms and raping me.”

Her mother and stepdad would take her to truck stops and sell her for sex to fund their drug habit. “This was love,” Brandy said. “This was my mom. This was what love is. My worth was forty dollars. My worth was twenty dollars.”

She then left her mother’s house when she was 16, and used the skills she learned from her to work as an escort and enter into a life of crime.

She served 7 years in prison for cooking meth, and after coming out she fell in love and became pregnant. But after two months after her daughter was born, she went back to prison.

She felt hopeless about her life and didn’t trust anyone. She only wanted to die. Brandy acted out in prison so she could be in confinement.

“I had lost my mind. I was throwing feces,” she said. “I was eating toilet paper. The things that you see in the psych wards.”

Even though she wanted to isolate herself, God divinely placed her barracks next to Christians where she remembered waking up every morning to her neighbors’ joyful singing.

She even banged and cursed in the middle of the night but they would still sing and praise the Lord.

When she finally left confinement, she received a warm welcome from those very Christians she had tried to dissuade with her pathetic behavior.

“They knew that I was the crazy lady that was beating and banging,” she said. “I walked in it was like everyone was holding their arms open. I’m like, ‘This is prison and I’ve never felt more free.’”

Now she is free from prison and the prison of the devil as well, she now works with Laminin, and has left that phase of her life completely. She says, “I’m a blood-bought child of God,” she said. “I don’t have to live there anymore. I can move forward.”

What a powerful testimony of Brandy where the devil tried his best to destroy her through her own mother, but through the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ she has been set free. Amen Hallelujah!

Verse of the Day

“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
