Blind couple Denise Leigh and Stefan Andrusyschyn left everyone in tears with a heartfelt performance on Britain’s Got Talent.
The husband and wife started their journey on BGT by sharing a hilarious story about their first meeting.
Denise and Stefan met by chance on a train 18 years ago. They were both going to an awards ceremony where Denise was presenting, and Stefan was the pianist.
Stefan humorously recalled, “We’re both involved with an awards ceremony, and Denise was presenting, and I was the guy playing piano for two hours while everyone else has a three-course meal.”
Denise added with a laugh, “But we met on the tube train going there, and I didn’t realize he was the bloke who was playing for me that evening – and he leaned over and asked me for the time. What are the chances of a blind man asking a blind woman on a train for the time?!”
Their journey together has been marked by love, resilience, and a shared passion for music.
Denise’s battle with cancer added another layer to their story. Thankfully, her scans are now clear, and she is in remission.
They chose to perform ‘Climb Every Mountain,’ a song from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1959 musical The Sound of Music.
This song, often sung by operatically trained voices, is known for its challenging range and powerful message.
Denise’s rendition, accompanied by Stefan on the piano, was nothing short of spectacular.
The performance moved judge Bruno Tonioli to tears. He led a standing ovation, followed by the other judges and the entire audience.
“I’m actually inspired by you,” Bruno shared. “I’ve learned something today about your positive state of mind and the ability to have a sense of humor about yourself. We all need to know that you are an example. You really are. I admire you.”
Simon Cowell said, “We always say this. You know, without people like you, this show is nothing, and it’s true. I’m so happy you made the decision to come on our show. I think you’re both amazing people. Your whole attitude is actually quite unbelievable.”
Alesha Dixon praised Denise’s vocal performance as “faultless.”
Denise and Stefan’s journey is a great example of how God places us in situations where we can find our strengths, even when others may only see our weaknesses.
Climb every mountain, ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow, ‘till you find your dream.
A dream that will need all the love you can give,
Every day of your life for as long as you live.
These words remind us that life has its challenges, but with faith, love, and determination, we can overcome them.
Denise and Stefan’s story encourages us to keep climbing, no matter how steep the mountain may seem.
Their story encourages us to look beyond our limitations and to see the strengths that God has placed within us.
No matter what challenges we face, we can trust that God is with us, guiding us and giving us the strength to climb every mountain.
