‘Blessed Assurance’ A Cappella Cover By Chris Rupp ft. The Ball Brothers

Chris Rupp ft. The Ball Brothers presents a beautiful rendition of the Christian hymn, ‘Blessed Assurance.’

Chris Rupp is no stranger to a cappella music. He gained worldwide recognition for his role in the group Home Free, which won NBC’s popular show The Sing Off.

He has since broken away from the group and has released many individual albums and also formed a new group called 7th Ave Band.

Today he is joined by The Ball Brothers in singing the familiar Christian hymn ‘Blessed Assurance’ we feel blessed to hear them sing it in their own special way.

The story behind Blessed Assurance is a very interesting one. Fanny Crosby wrote, “My friend, Mrs. Knapp, composed a melody, and played it over to me two or three times on the piano.” She wrote, “She then asked me what it said, and I immediately replied ‘Blessed Assurance.’” Within a few minutes Fanny Crosby had written the complete poem, just as it stands today, and the song was first published in 1873.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Mrs. Knapp’s husband was Joseph Fairchild Knapp, a prominent Sunday School worker and successful businessman, he became quite wealthy and organized the famous Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. When he died, he left her an income of fifty thousand dollars a year, the most of which she spent for religious and charitable activities.

Perfect submission, perfect delight!
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of Love.

In her New York City home, she had a beautiful pipe organ which was the largest such instrument ever to be installed in a private home. She published more than five hundred of her own gospel song compositions, but “Blessed Assurance” is the only one that became so well known.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Blessed Assurance is a great hymn of faith, a Christian is sure of his faith because of his surrendered walk with God.
