Last month, Nashville influencer Becca Moore shared a TikTok video telling her followers how she lost her phone and credit cards while attending Coachella.

Becca went to her Uber, where her driver, Raul Torres, decided to stay with her because he had an instinct that something was wrong.

Becca told her fans on TikTok, “So I got robbed at Coachella and my Uber driver saved me,” she said in the video that got 6 million views.

She said, “After I got in his car, I pretended everything was fine but he insisted on staying with me because he had an instinct that I needed help.”

Moore has 875,000 followers on TikTok and was attending a private party at Coachella with other influencers when someone robbed her phone and credit cards.

All Becca Moore wanted to do was buy a new phone and go home, but Torres took her to file a police report, treated her to Starbucks, helped her get a rental car, and manually tracked her phone.

Moore wrote on her GoFundMe that she made a new friend that day, “What could’ve turned into an emergency felt like a fun day with a new friend because of Raul,” Moore wrote.

Moore wrote on the GoFundMe, “He picked me up at 10 AM and stayed with me until I had everything I needed to get home at 6 PM, which should have been his entire day of work.”

They ate at a Mexican restaurant, and over food and margaritas, Raul shared his family’s story with Becca. He told her that his daughter, Myra, is a senior in high school and is currently going through chemotherapy and having to deal with teenage milestones like prom and graduation.

He also told her about his dad’s battle with cancer and that he was not doing well. Raul has both his family members under his care and that day Raul ended his Uber trip “expecting nothing in return,” according to Becca.

Torres said that he was “just happy to help her, you know what I mean. It’s just weird but you know I couldn’t leave her back there because she didn’t know nobody there so I had to help her out.”

That moved the influencer to start a GoFundMe for Raul Torres and his family to help them with the medical expenses and to make Myra’s senior year memorable. She set the initial goal at $1,000, but within an hour, the goal was met, and that prompted her to increase the goal and now, she’s raised more than $230,000 for them.

Sadly, Raul’s dad died, and they faced hefty funeral expenses. “The Torres family didn’t know they’d wake up this morning with a funeral to plan today, too,” Becca wrote on GoFundMe, “and I am beyond thankful for your continued donations.”

Becca met Raul’s wife Linda and the entire Torres family. “I love them,” Moore said. “They’re stuck with me forever.” She shared videos to TikTok of her hanging out with all of them and getting matching necklaces with Myra, including planning a trip to Ensenada, Mexico.

“When I was in the car with him, it seemed like we were so focused on my situation,” Moore shared on TikTok. “We were only talking about getting my phone and things that did not matter. And he completely glazed over the fact that like his daughter and his dad were the ones that needed help.”

After Raul Torres handled the medical bills and the funeral’s cost, he has some funds left which he plans on using to open a taco shop. His family is full of praise for his kindness, Moore recalled them saying, “‘He does that all the time. He helps everyone.'”

For Becca Moore it all stemmed from the fact that Raul treated her like a daughter and not a customer. She added, “Thank God he treated me like a daughter that day, too.”

Verse of the Day

“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.””
