A 4-month-old baby was miraculously saved after being swept up in a tornado that struck Clarksville, Tennessee, a survival his family credits to God’s intervention.
When unpredictable events strike, it’s comforting to know we have a caring and loving God who extends His protection beyond our understanding. This story serves as a real-life example of His unceasing guardianship in even the most unforeseen circumstances.
The incident unfolded during a severe weather outbreak on a Saturday. Sydney Moore, a 22-year-old mother, was at her home with her two children when the tornado hit their mobile home. “I was with my 1-year-old son in the back bedroom when the winds started howling,” Sydney recalled, speaking to WSMV, an NBC affiliate.
As the walls collapsed, Sydney shielded her eldest child by jumping on top of him. At that harrowing moment, her boyfriend witnessed their youngest, a 4-month-old baby, being lifted from his bassinet into the funnel cloud. Despite his attempts to save the infant, both were caught in the storm’s powerful grip. Sydney and her toddler, trapped under their trailer’s wreckage, fought their way out.
The family feared the worst for the baby, but, remarkably, he was found alive, nestled in a fallen tree. “I was pretty sure he was dead and we wouldn’t find him. But he’s here, and that’s by the grace of God,” Sydney expressed her relief and gratitude.
This miraculous escape left the family with minor injuries, except for Sydney’s boyfriend who sustained a broken arm/shoulder. However, the tornado left them with nothing but their lives, having destroyed their home and all their possessions.
In response to their plight, the community rallied. The mobile home’s rental company provided temporary hotel accommodation, and a GoFundMe campaign raised over $16,000 to support the family’s recovery. “The tornado took everything, but we’ve received so much support,” Sydney shared, moved by the community’s generosity.
