A newborn girl was found alive in a plastic bag on a street corner in London during freezing cold temperatures.
The discovery happened when someone walking their dog late on Thursday night noticed the bag at Greenway and High Street South’s intersection.
The baby was wrapped in a towel inside the bag. The person who found her called for help and kept her warm until the paramedics arrived. The temperature that night was about minus 3 degrees Celsius (26.6 degrees Fahrenheit), which is very dangerous for a newborn.
Chief Superintendent Simon Crick from the Metropolitan Police shared his relief: “I am delighted to report that she wasn’t injured in any way and is safe and well in the care of hospital staff.” The baby’s survival in such harsh conditions is remarkable.
The reason why a mother would leave her baby like this is unclear. The police, worried for the mother, are looking for her to offer assistance. “She will have been through a traumatic ordeal and will be in need of immediate medical attention following the birth,” said Crick. He encouraged the mother to seek help, assuring that support is available.
As the search for the mother continues, thoughts are with the baby’s future. Her safe rescue amid potential tragedy gives hope. Chief Superintendent Crick reassured: “If you are the baby’s mother please know that your daughter is well.”
God sent a stranger to shield this innocent baby’s life. Without that touch of grace, the outcome would be different. Remember, even when paths seem impossible, God already weaves a way through. Trust in His unseen hand, for even in the storm, you are carried by His love.
Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
