It was a regular Sunday afternoon when this scary incident happened. Bentley’s family was outside their home. His dad, Blake, was fixing the car. His mom was walking with Bentley in the yard.

Then, in a blink, Bentley fell into a small PVC pipe in the ground. Can you imagine how scared his parents must have been? The pipe was only about as wide as a dinner plate, but it went down 10 to 12 feet. That’s taller than most rooms!

Blake, Bentley’s dad, felt helpless. He could hear his little boy crying down in the pipe, but he couldn’t reach him. “It’s horrifying to feel so helpless when your child needs help,” Blake said. Many of us have felt scared for our children before, but this must have been terrifying.

The family called 911 for help right away. Soon, the local police, fire department, and EMS arrived. They found Bentley stuck at the bottom of the pipe, unable to move. The rescuers knew they had to act fast, but carefully.

One of these helpers was Officer Ronnie Wagner. He had only been a police officer for a month, but God used him in a big way that day.

Officer Wagner had a clever idea. He called Jeremy Samland, an EMS worker who lived close by. Together, they made a tool using a thin PVC pipe and rope. Wagner explained, “We threaded rope through the pipe and tied a knot at the end so it would slip.”

The rescuers lowered this homemade tool into the PVC pipe. Their plan was to loop it around Bentley and lift him out safely. It wasn’t easy, as Bentley couldn’t follow instructions due to his young age. But the rescuers didn’t give up.

After about 20 minutes of trying, they finally got the loop around Bentley. Slowly and gently, they lifted him out of the pipe. Everyone was so relieved to see that Bentley wasn’t hurt, just scared and shaken up.

Blake was overjoyed to have his son back safe. He said, “It’s a blessing and a miracle… There aren’t words to express our gratitude.” The family thanked God for protecting Bentley and for sending such skilled helpers.

This rescue shows us how God often works through people to help those in need. The quick thinking of Officer Wagner, the kindness of Jeremy, and the careful work of all the rescuers were all part of God’s plan to save Bentley.
