It is very important for us to know and understand the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As this will enable us to worship and serve Him more effectively with all our spirit, soul and body.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the second person in the Godhead, God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was there right from the beginning of creation. He is the only begotten son of God the father, who came down on earth in human form to die for our sin and to save us.
These are some of the things we should know about the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1. Christ is Lord over everything
Our lord Jesus is God and He rules over all things in heavens and on earth.
Psalm 103:19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
The Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Spirit is God.
2. Christ as a human accomplished perfect obedience
Christ was given complete dominion because He was perfect in obedience to the will of the Father.
Eph. 1:20-23 he [God the Father] worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Because of the complete obedience of Christ till death, the Father gave all authority to Him, over everything that is in heaven and on earth. And at the mention of His name every knee shall bow.
3. Christ has authority over everyone
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me [Christ]. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . . (Matt. 28:18)
The believer acknowledges the authority of Christ over their life but the unbeliever doesn’t have any idea yet and so does not submit to his rule.
4. We must serve Christ with everything
We serve Christ because He deserves our obedience. Christ is altogether lovely and completely worthy of all our service.
It is God’s command for us to serve him. We were created and designed and destined for this service.
We get the deepest satisfaction and joy in life only when we serve Him with the power of the Holy Spirit.
5. Christ delegates authority and responsibilities to believers
The word of God says that all authority comes from above and He is the one who delegates authority to others.
The government offices, business leaders, parents, church leaders and more are limited, but the authority of God is above all of them.
