The song was composed by Martin J. Nystrom, a native of Seattle. It was written in 1984 and the song is based on the words written by David in Psalm 42:1-2.

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

The song reminds us of how the Lord satisfies the longing of our spirit with His spiritual goodness. ‘As The Deer’ was composed by Martin (Marty) J. Nystrom, born on Oct. 17, 1956, at Seattle, WA.

He received a degree in Music Education from Oral Roberts University, he also featured on the weekly Oral Roberts telecasts and taught public school for three years and became director of the music department for the New York branch of Christ for the Nations.

You’re my friend
And You are my brother
Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything

Today, more than before people are hungry and thirsty for the word of God because only He can answer the cries of His people during these times of crisis due to the pandemic.

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

Taryn Harbridge has performed musical covers of many popular hymns and worship songs and today has blessed the hearts of many with this anointed cover of ‘As The Deer.’

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
