Amelia Kate found a simple way to share the message of Easter with those around her with a moving performance of ‘Hallelujah.’
She and her mom set up speakers in their driveway so her voice could carry through the neighborhood. As the speakers played the music, Amelia stood and sang the Easter version of the song Hallelujah for her neighbors.
It’s easy to get busy during Easter week. We clean the house, make plans, or shop for meals. But hearing someone sing about Jesus rising from the dead can stop us in our tracks. It reminds us of what Easter is truly about.
The words of the song walk us through the moment when Jesus rose from the grave:
Three days went by again they came
To move the stone to bless the slain
With oil and spice anointing hallelujah
But as they went to move the stone
They saw that they were not alone
But Jesus Christ has risen Hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
One of the neighbors later wrote, “Thank y’all for sharing your gift from God and sharing it with your neighbors too. Your voice touched a lot of us today. Thank you, Amelia Kate, for lifting us up.”
The video shows neighbors gathered outside their homes. Some stood on their lawns, some sat in chairs, and others walked out to the street to listen.
Amelia didn’t preach a sermon. She just sang a song. But it was enough to bring people together and remind them of what Easter means.
