For all those who are serving or have served in the United States Army, the American flag holds a very special place in their lives. So when this veteran lost his flag while moving, he was extremely happy to receive it back again- from the hands of another veteran.
William Holley was moving to a new apartment in Maryland, when an American flag, in one of his display cases, fell out of his truck. The flag was special to his family. because it was presented to an uncle, WWI veteran Marcellus Herod.
Holley said on losing the flag, “We figured that somebody just stopped, picked it up and headed on out.” Yes he was right, because Navy veteran Tom Jarrett was the person who found the flag. He said, “I do know how important that flag is,” Jarrett said. “It’s presented for sacrifice for the United States of America.”
He gave the retrieved flag to the police and thanks to a YouTube video, they could track down Holley.
In a solemn ceremony, Holley, an Army veteran, was reunited with the precious flag. “This means a lot to the family, but as fellow veterans, we understand the story behind this flag and what it stands for,” he said.
This story has moved us today because of the respect and love that veterans like Holley and Jarrett displayed for the American flag.
