Quick-Thinking 8-Year-Old Saves Sister with a Voicemail During Carjacking

An 8-year-old girl named Charley showed incredible bravery that led to her and her sister’s safe return after a scary car theft. The event took place on a Sunday morning at a car wash.

Charley’s dad, Adam Jorgenson, was talking to some people asking for directions. Meanwhile, while one man distracted Jorgenson with a question, another sneaked into his car and drove off with Charley and her 2-year-old sister, Autumn, still inside.

Adam shared with ABC News affiliate WISN how quickly it happened. He said, “I had my back turned to the car. And that was enough for the guy to sneak in there real quick and take the car.”

Realizing the danger, Adam quickly ran into the Kwik Trip car wash to alert the authorities and his wife. Utilizing the Find My app, they were able to track his phone, which was still inside the stolen vehicle. This swift action played a crucial role in the unfolding events.

The situation got more intense when the thief noticed the kids in the back. Charley, thinking fast, asked the thief about her sister’s safety when he told her to get out.

“What about my sister? What am I going to do about her?” Charley asked the carjacker.

Brittany Jorgenson, the kids’ mom, was terrified, thinking, “Like I’m never gonna see my kids again.”

Thanks to God, the thief left the car with the kids unharmed a mile from the car wash.

Charley’s smart thinking helped a lot. She found her dad’s phone in the car and called her mom, leaving a message saying, “Mom! I need you! We lost dad!”

This allowed Brittany to provide guidance to her daughter until the police, who had been quickly notified, arrived at the scene.

The Oak Creek Police Department said the case is still being looked into, but they have a suspect. The Jorgenson family is very thankful to the police for their fast work and happy that their kids are safe.
