An act of kindness done by a store owner captured by his customer is winning hundreds of hearts online and is setting an example for the rest of us.
Jitendra Singh, was managing his branch of convenience store, 7-Eleven store in Toledo, Ohio when he was alerted of suspicious activity of a customer by his staff.
Singh, upon checking the security footage, found out that the teen was stealing snacks, sneaking around the aisles.
The teen upon reaching the counter was told by Singh to hand over the snacks, otherwise he would call the police.
Naturally, the teen, got scared, and revealed that he was stealing for him and his younger brother because they were hungry.
It melted Singh’s heart and he told the teen to collect pizzas, chicken, sandwiches, fruit and meals all free off the aisles, all free of charge.
Cedric Bishop, a bystander during the ordeal and a regular customer, posted this incident on his Facebook and said how stunned he was and praised Singh for his kindness.
Bishop added, “The cashier had the 911 operator on the phone and the owner told her to hang up, the owner [then told the teen] ‘This is not food. You want food, I’ll give you food.’”
Bishop felt compelled to give $10 to the teen, and said, “I thought that was an amazing thing the owner did, some young people just need to know that someone cares.”
Singh, when asked about the incident said, that he’s been store owner for the past five years and tries to give back to the community anyway he can. He saw this as an opportunity and did not hesitate to help the youngster. He adds, “It’s not going to make any difference to me if I give him some food because we make a lot of food, we sell a lot of food, if he goes to jail then he’s definitely not going to do anything good in life.”
Singh’s kindness towards the youngster is an example for everyone to help each other in anyway we can. He did not do it to be praised, he did it because it was the right thing to do.
