A 110-year-old grandmother from Houston, Texas has credited her faith in God for her longevity and good health.
Elizabeth Francis was born in 1909 in Louisiana, and celebrated her birthday in the presence of family, friends, and community leaders. “Blessing of the Lord,” she said for the reason she’s lived so long. “He’s the one keeping me.”
Her milestone was celebrated in style and even Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner turned up a held her hand. Francis has seen six generations of her family. “It’s really special because she’s been able to watch and see all of her grandchildren grow up and be a part of their lives,” Ethel Harrison, Francis’ granddaughter, said.
Another lady from Texas, Hattie Mae Allen, had turned 105 in Temple, and she also credited God. “We put Jesus first,” Allen, who still teaches on Sundays, said at the time.
